These Terms and Conditions govern all bookings made through 4Drive Tunisia. By completing a booking on our platform, you agree to comply with these terms. Please read them carefully before proceeding with your reservation.
4Drive Tunisia operates a booking platform connecting customers with local rental companies in Tunisia. We facilitate reservations and collect booking advances on behalf of these companies. The actual rental agreement is concluded directly between you and the rental company at the time of vehicle collection.
These terms cover the booking process, payment obligations, and your responsibilities when using our platform. They do not replace the rental agreement you will sign with the rental company, which governs the actual use of the vehicle during your rental period.
Each rental company maintains its own operating procedures for vehicle handover, whether at a rental desk, airport terminal, or through delivery to your accommodation. Specific details are provided in your booking confirmation and voucher.
When you complete a booking through our website, you receive a voucher containing all reservation details. This voucher must be presented when collecting the vehicle. At that point, you enter into a rental agreement directly with the local rental company whose contact details appear in the voucher.
The rental agreement you sign at collection includes the vehicle condition record, documenting any existing damage or marks. Both parties must verify this record before departure. The agreement also specifies insurance coverage details, excess amounts, and any restrictions on vehicle use.
All conditions outlined in your voucher - including vehicle type, rental period, and any additional services - form part of the rental agreement. The rental company is responsible for fulfilling these conditions and providing the vehicle as specified.
At the time of booking, you pay an advance by credit or debit card through our secure online payment system. We do not accept cash payments online. This advance confirms your reservation and is transferred to the rental company.
The remaining balance is due when you collect the vehicle. Payment methods for the balance depend on the specific vehicle booked and are clearly stated during the booking process and in your voucher. Some vehicles accept debit cards, cash, or credit cards for the balance, while others may have specific requirements.
If you do not hold a credit card and the vehicle you selected requires one for the balance payment, we recommend increasing the limit on your debit card before travel. Requirements vary by vehicle, not by vehicle category, so review payment terms carefully when selecting your rental.
Deposit requirements are set by the rental company and vary depending on the specific vehicle you book. The deposit is a temporary hold or block placed on your card by the rental company at the time of collection, separate from the rental payment itself.
The deposit amount and the card type required are specified during booking and in your voucher. This hold is released after you return the vehicle in the agreed condition, subject to the rental company's verification process and their bank's processing times.
The deposit is unrelated to insurance coverage or excess amounts. It serves as security for the rental company and is a standard industry practice. Some vehicles in our selection are available with no deposit requirement, which is clearly indicated during the booking process.
The person named as the main driver on the booking must present a valid driving licence at collection. Foreign licences are accepted in Tunisia. An International Driving Permit is recommended for stays exceeding 90 days but is not mandatory for shorter rentals.
Additional drivers can be added to the rental agreement at collection for a fee. Each additional driver must present their own valid licence and meet the rental company's age and experience requirements. All drivers must be listed on the rental agreement to be covered.
You must also present identification and the payment card used for the booking advance. The rental company may request additional documentation as specified in your voucher or their standard procedures.
Vehicles must be driven in accordance with local traffic regulations. In Tunisia, traffic moves on the right-hand side. Speed limits are 50 km/h in urban areas, 90 km/h on regional roads, and 110 km/h on motorways unless otherwise posted.
The A1 motorway connecting Tunis to Sfax and the A3 motorway from Tunis to Oued Zarga are toll roads. Payment is made at toll plazas using cash or an electronic badge, available as an optional extra when booking. Fuel stations are common in cities and along main highways but sparse in remote southern regions.
Cross-border travel to Algeria and Libya requires written permission from the rental company and is subject to restrictions. Such travel must be arranged in advance and may not be available for all vehicles. Unauthorised cross-border travel violates the rental agreement and may void insurance coverage.
Off-road driving is permitted only for vehicles explicitly described as suitable for such use. Mountain roads, gravel tracks, and desert routes require appropriate vehicle specifications, which are detailed in each vehicle listing. Misuse of a vehicle outside its intended purpose may result in liability for damage.

Cancellation policies vary depending on how far in advance you cancel. Details of applicable cancellation terms are provided during the booking process and in your confirmation email. Cancellations must be submitted in writing to [email protected].
If you fail to collect the vehicle at the agreed time and location without prior notice, the booking may be treated as a no-show and the advance payment forfeited. We recommend confirming your collection arrangements at least 48 hours before your scheduled pick-up time.
4Drive Tunisia arranges the booking between customers and local rental companies. We are responsible for processing your booking accurately and providing correct information in your voucher. The rental company is responsible for the condition and delivery of the vehicle.
During the rental period, you are liable for the vehicle in accordance with the rental agreement signed with the rental company. This includes responsibility for damage, theft, traffic violations, and any costs arising from misuse or breach of the rental terms.
Insurance coverage is provided by the rental company as specified in the rental agreement. The excess amount - your financial responsibility in the event of damage or theft - is stated in your voucher and rental agreement. You remain liable for this excess unless additional coverage options are purchased.
If you encounter any issues during your rental, contact the rental company immediately using the details provided in your voucher. Most concerns can be resolved directly with the company while the rental is active.

Our office is located in Medina, Tunis, Tunisia, and operates Monday to Sunday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM GMT+1. We aim to address all customer concerns fairly and promptly, working with rental companies to find appropriate solutions.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Tunisia. Any disputes arising from bookings made through 4Drive Tunisia fall under the jurisdiction of Tunisian courts.
The rental agreement you sign with the local rental company is also subject to Tunisian law. This includes all matters relating to vehicle use, insurance claims, damage liability, and contractual obligations during the rental period.
